Brief History

Ashok Sansthan is a Non-Governmental organisation NGO registered under Indian Societies Registration Act-XXI of 1860 . It is a Non-political, non-religious, secular and not to make profit NOP, organisation. The organisation was established in the year 1984.The sole ambition of the organisation was to bring all-round development to its people in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, India where at those time there was no awareness and still identified as economically backward area by the Planning Commission, Govt.of India. This organisation was the brain child of a young Dynamic Science Graduate Mr Narendra Kumar Rai who has been the chief architect of Ashok Sansthan, having the vision of to bring down the avenues of empowerment and development to the down trodden and underprivileged. His endeavour bored fruits when National Research Development Corporation NRDC, Govt of India, Department of Scientific & Industrial Research under Ministry of Science & Technology set up its 16th Rural Technology Demonstration cum Training RTDT centre of India at Ashok Sansthan office at  Kundesar, Ghazipur,Uttar Pradesh ,India on 15-01-1985.

Since then there was no looking back, Mr Narendra Kumar Rai with a small group of committed colleagues carved a niche for Ashok Sansthan in the field of Social Work.The Organisation had made its presence in 0 5 countries i.e. India,Pakistan,Bangladesh,Sri Lanka & Nepal around the Asia when its General Secretary participated in the “GREAT PEACE JOURNEY” sponsored by the World Bank under United Nation theme of “International year of Peace” in 1986  .He has provided consultancy services to World Bank, United Nations, UNESCO,ITC/GATT, etc and to other NGO’s and state Governments & Govt.of India. The organisation has not only worked for its entire 140 Villages of Bhanverkole block,District-Ghazipur,Uttar Pradesh,India but had stretched its wing to reach to its target group throughout the country i.e. Uttarpradesh,Uttranchal,Punjab,Haryana,Rajasthan,Orrissa,Andaman & Nicobar Island,Andhra Pradesh etc. The organisation is empowered with eminent Human resource which has always rendered their assignment with sincere commitment.

Adding to its achievement Mrs Asha Rai represented the organisation in Hurahio, Bejing in China in the 4th World NGO forum for women 19 9 5,where she also participated in the International Literacy day which was celebrated among 60,000 women from 180 countries from the world.Mr N.K.rai attended the workshop on edible Fungi cultivation Technology at Fuzhou organised by Asia Pacific Edible Mushroom Training Centre APEMTC sponsored by the state Science and Technology Commission of the people’s Republic of China and UNDP.

Ashok sansthan had successfully completed various projects under different Ministries of Govt. of India and State Govt. It has distributed 146 Krishak Bandhu pedal pump with the help of CAPART in the district of Ghazipur,Ballia, Mau,Azamgarh,Gorakhpur,Basti,Deoria,Kushinagar etc.It has got an opprutunity from the PCRA Petrolium Conservation Reasearch Association under Ministriy of Petroleum and Natural gases,Govt. of India to conduct practical field training and demonstration to the farmers of Uttar Pradesh,Rajsthan,Haryana,and Punjab creating an awareness about the use of petroleum products. The organisation has also provided its consultancy services to Govt, of Andaman and Nicobar Island for “Waste water  disposal system” in its villages for some of the islands. IGNOU has granted its vocational training centre for Mushroom at Ashok Sansthan of two states U.P. and Bihar. It has conducted training programme on Fire Retardant Thatch roof to 40 NGO from 08 states of India.
